A scar appears when the epithelial tissue tears. This is the natural result of a wound’s healing process. It is the “visible” part of a dermal injury. Connective tissue is repaired through the growth of young fibroblasts (cells that produce collagen). The space left by the wound is then “plugged” with fibrillar tissue. The scar’s texture is then different from that of the skin. Trofolastin® visibly reduces hypertrophic and keloid scars in 8 weeks.
